People arrive from 8:30 to 9:00 pm. The meeting itself lasts from about 9:15 until 9:45. The rest of the evening is spent socializing, and consuming the provided refreshments.
By car:
From I-66 westbound, exit at Glebe Rd. (Rt. 120) Turn right (north) onto Glebe. Go to the 2nd light (2 short blocks) and turn left (west) on 16th St. Go about ½ mile. When you see the hospital, that is Edison St. Turn left. The house is the second stairway on the right.
From I-66 eastbound, exit at Washington Blvd. After exiting, continue straight (east) onto Washington. Proceed about 1½ miles to George Mason Dr. Turn left (north). Go to the 1st light, 16th St. Turn right. Go 1 block to Edison St. Turn right. The house is the second stairway on the right.
Within Arlington, get on George Mason Dr. Proceed N or S as appropriate. At 16th St. (SW corner of Virginia Hospital) turn east. Go 1 block to Edison St. Turn right. The house is the second stairway on the right.
By mass transit:
Exit the Ballston Metro station (on the Orange line). You can then walk or take the bus.
If you walk: The main street behind you (as you come up the escalator) is Fairfax Dr. Turn left (west) and walk 5 blocks to the second traffic light. The big cross street is Glebe Rd. (Rt. 120). Turn right (north) and walk five blocks to 16th St. (4th stop light). Turn left (west) go about ½ miles. When you see the hospital, that is Edison St. Turn left. The house is the second stairway on the right.
If you take the bus, you have 3 options.
1. The most convenient is the ART 51 bus (Arlington Rapid Transit, green minibuses). The bus stop is the far-left shelter as you exit the Metro. The fare is $1.25; they will accept Metro bus and subway transfers and Metro tokens (sorry no SmartPasses). Get off at the corner of 16th and Edison Sts. (the SE corner of Virginia Hospital). Cross the intersection diagonally. The house is the second stairway on the right.
The bus runs every half-hour on the :05 and :35.
2. The ART 52 bus leaves from the same stop and runs every half-hour on the :20 and :50. That bus will leave you off on George Mason Dr. in front of the hospital. Walk south to the corner of 16th St. (south end of the hospital) and turn left. Walk 1 block to Edison. Turn right. The house is the second stairway on the right.
3. The 2A,B, C or G runs between the Ballston and East Falls Church Metro stations along Washington Blvd. Get off just before George Mason Dr. Walk N on George Mason to 16th St. and turn right. Walk 1 block to Edison. Turn right. The house is the second stairway on the right.
On a Friday evening, the bus runs every half-hour on the :05 and :35.
